FlexDrive Expands Engagement with Global Automotive Leaders to Define the Future of Production Logistics

As the automotive sector undergoes a rapid digital transformation, FlexDrive’s specialist teams have been meeting with industry leaders to address the most pressing challenges in modern vehicle assembly and component manufacturing. These strategic discussions have focused on three core pillars of the "Factory of the Future":
Production Logistics Automation: Streamlining the movement of components from sub-assembly to the main line, ensuring JIT (Just-in-Time) and JIS (Just-in-Sequence) efficiency without the constraints of fixed infrastructure.
Forklift Traffic Reduction: Enhancing facility safety and reducing operational costs by replacing traditional manned forklifts with intelligent, autonomous transport—significantly lowering the risk of floor-level incidents.
Digital Factory Integration:  Leveraging FlexDrive’s native compatibility with Siemens SIMOVE and 5G technology to create a seamless link between physical AMRs and Digital Twin simulations for real-time data monitoring.

“The level of interest we are seeing from the automotive sector is a testament to the need for hyper-flexible, industrial-grade robotics,” said Meir Ziskin, BDM. “Manufacturers are no longer looking for ‘off-the-shelf’ robots; they want integrated partners who understand the complexities of a high-speed production environment.”

With interest in scalable transport automation continuing to surge across both the automotive and wider manufacturing sectors, FlexDrive remains committed to delivering UK-engineered solutions that keep global industries moving safely and efficiently.

Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) are a self-navigating robotic system designed to transport materials within a facility without needing fixed infrastructure like magnetic strips, tracks, or guide wires. Using onboard sensors, mapping software, and obstacle detection and avoidance, AMRs understand their environment, make real-time decisions, and can dynamically adjust their routes.

AMRs (Autonomous Mobile Robots) differ from AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles) in how they move and respond to their environment.

Whilst AGVs follow fixed routes using magnetic tapes, cores, or wires, AMRs navigate freely using onboard sensors and real time mapping. This allows AMRs to avoid obstacles, adapt to layout changes, and operate in dynamic, collaborative human environments.

Unlike AGVs, which stop when their path is blocked, AMRs can reroute themselves automatically. FlexDrive AMRs although are technically AMRs, with the modular approach we have taken to allow you to completely customise your vehicle each FlexDrive AMR can be configured as an AGV with traditional tape navigation or data matrix codes.

FlexDrive AMRs are suitable for use in warehouses, distribution centres, and manufacturing facilities. They work well in spaces that already have people, equipment, and changing layouts, adapting to the environment without needing fixed paths or major infrastructure changes.
FlexDrive AMRs are supported by three levels of aftercare support. We provide remote support and resources for simple problem resolutions, on-site servicing, or full 24/7 cover with fast repairs and replacements.

FlexDrive AMRs can be deployed in a short time frame. Through our rigorous project deployment process, pre validation and testing ensure when FlexDrive AMRs and their applications arrive on site with minimal setup they are ready to work.

You as the end user are key to every deployment, so regular communication and collaboration is maintained to ensure we meet your requirements and expectations. Through our ability to simulate all our deployments we reduce the set-up time on site.

FlexDrive AMRs can operate in many industries from Automotive, Intralogistics, Material handling, MedTech and more. They fulfil many roles within each sector, from intralogistics, material or product handling to dynamic mobile platforms down an assembly line or process.
